Yellow Chrysanthemum Meaning
Walk through any Vietnamese neighborhood in the weeks before Tet, and yellow chrysanthemums are everywhere — in shopfront displays, family entryways, and market stalls piled high with golden blooms. No other chrysanthemum color carries as much specific cultural weight as yellow. Here's exactly why.

What Yellow Specifically Symbolizes
Where chrysanthemums broadly represent longevity and respect, yellow narrows that into something more specific: prosperity, wealth, and good fortune. The golden color itself carries symbolic weight in Vietnamese and broader Asian tradition, closely associated with imperial gold, abundance, and success.
Yellow Chrysanthemums and Tet
Yellow chrysanthemums are one of Vietnam's most traditional Tet flowers, displayed in homes and businesses to invite prosperity and positive energy into the new year. Large potted arrangements are especially common near entrances — the idea being that placing wealth-symbolizing flowers at the threshold welcomes that fortune into the home.
Yellow Chrysanthemums in Feng Shui
In feng shui practice, yellow chrysanthemums are considered auspicious for the same reasons — wealth attraction, positive energy flow, and balance. Placement near entrances or in living and business spaces during Tet is thought to support these effects, which is part of why the tradition has persisted so strongly.
